About
About the Power Map
The Power Map brings public information about the Swedish state together in one place: who decides, who appoints whom, and which bodies exist. Everything is based on official sources.
Sources
- regeringen.se
Ministers, ministries, remits and which agencies belong to each ministry.
- data.riksdagen.se
The Riksdag's open data: members, constituencies, party affiliation and committee assignments.
- myndighetsregistret.scb.se
Statistics Sweden's official register of public agencies: name, organisation number, statute and website.
- val.se
The Election Authority's final result of the general election of 13 September 2026: votes, seats and turnout.
- valresultat.svt.se
Results and boundaries per constituency, from SVT's count at 100% of districts.
- domstol.se
The Swedish Courts: types of court and order of instance.
Method
The election result was last verified on 2026-10-29. 341 agencies, courts and state bodies come from Statistics Sweden's register and are linked to ministries according to the government's own list of agencies. 349 serving members of parliament come from the Riksdag's open data.
Where the register lacks a link - for example for county administrative boards and certain boards - the ministry has been set from the agency's governing instruction and remit. Parliament's own agencies, the Riksbank and the AP funds report to no ministry and are therefore listed without one.
Agency heads (director-generals) are not held in any single machine-readable register and are therefore not listed here yet. Vacant and acting posts are always stated as such and never guessed.
English names are used only where an official English name exists. Swedish legal names are always retained.
Automated fact check
Every weekday a scheduled task runs with the Claude language model (Claude Code). It compares facts on the site with primary sources such as riksdagen.se and regeringen.se.
If it finds a fact that no longer holds, it may change content and data files. Every changed fact must have a source, and the site's automated checks must pass. The change is then merged and published without a human reviewing it first. Adrian Martén decided this on 20 October 2026.
The task may not merge changes to the site's code, database structure, dependencies or build pipeline on its own.
The nightly source check also uses Claude. When a minister or a municipal board chair is no longer on their official page, Claude reads that page and proposes what holds now. A proposal is kept only if its evidence appears word for word on the page, and it is not published until the task above has checked it.
Claude also chooses which paragraphs from the parties' own policy pages are quoted. Claude never rewrites a quote: it picks among the page's own paragraphs, shown exactly as the party published them. On the news page Claude labels headlines with topics, and the headlines are never changed.
The government formation box is kept up to date this way. It was last checked on 3 November 2026. The nightly source check is reported on Data quality.
Caveats
Following the election of 13 September 2026, government formation is under way. The Kristersson government remains as a caretaker. The newly elected Riksdag convened on 28 September 2026; the member list on the Riksdag page states whether it shows the new chamber or a saved snapshot of the outgoing one. The Power Map is not an official publication and does not replace agencies' own information.
